Wellness
Other non-operative measures can be introduced into your life to improve your symptoms and manage and modify the pain from the arthritis of the knee, and these should be optimised before surgery is undertaken:
Rehabilitation and education
Self-management and education programs have been demonstrated to be beneficial for all patients with symptomatic arthritis. A combination of supervised exercises and home programs have shown the best results.
Weight loss programs
Weight loss is indicated for patients with symptomatic arthritis and BMI > 25. Effective weight loss will involve a combination of diet and low-impact aerobic exercise.
