Risks associated with COVID and having a knee replacement
There is evidence which suggests that developing COVID-19 in the post-operative period carries a significant risk to life. If you feel the quality of your life is significantly affected by your knee problem and you would still like to proceed to surgery, it is important to understanding that there are no guarantees that you will not be exposed to COVID-19 during your admission in the hospital.
Because of COVID-19, medical support services including HDU and ITU may be less accessible than normal and some of the postoperative rehabilitation services are running differently.
Isolation advice must be followed in both the pre- and post-operative period.
